About Us

The ADAPT concept is a collaboration between the East Arkansas Planning and Development District (EAPDD), Arkansas State University (ASU) and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). The project was funded by the Economic Development Administration, Southwest Region (EDA). This site was designed to enhance the ability of leaders to determine those components within a region that need focused attention for development, by providing one location for the display of these unique mapping and data sets.

In addition there are links to state and other agencies and organizations that can provide supporting information that developers are looking for.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock

UALR's responsibility under the project:

  • The preparation of layered infrastructure mapping for the seventy-five counties in the state which includes forty-five Delta Regional Authority counties, and the twelve counties contained within the jurisdiction of EAPDD. This mapping system also includes addressing capability, and data summaries, and routing to destination via Google Earth.
  • The development of a variety of demographic information for the state and political subdivisions, with the capability of aggregating and comparing data sets. This is displayable in either table or graph form.

Arkansas State University

ASU's responsibility includes:

  • The preparation of case studies from various places from the west and midwest to the Carolinas. The case studies sought out communities and programs that were examples of "best practices" in the areas of planning economic development, and community development. The studies examined the practices in four communities in Iowa along the Mississippi River; one in southern Wyoming near the Denver/Fort Collins area; and seven communities involved the North Carolina S.T.E.P. program. These reports are included on this web site for your information, study and consideration.
